This stop provided lots of history regarding the Gold Rush and it was all very interesting. We went into a museum that had a display of the supplies required by Canada before they let anyone through the pass to Skagway. The supply list included everything a person needed to last a year. The supplies were mounted on sleds so they could drag them through the pass which took them about 2 months.
There were more people that got rich selling these supplies then those who got rich on gold.
We took a street walking tour, well described by Nita. Our tour guide was amazing, she talked for two hours telling us all kinds of interesting stories. She told the stories with flare and was very animated, she certainly seemed to enjoy being a guide.
I really enjoyed the food at the specialty restaurant, the Olympic, we went to in the evening. They have two other specialty restaurants, on the ship, that have interesting themes and decor, these restaurants are not part of cruise cost. However, one can only do so much, and I did not plan for extra expenses for meals since the cost of the trip included meals. We will also be purchasing meals when we do the land portion of the trip.
The Broadway show was fun. Very upbeat with lots of good songs and dancing.
