Ghosts and Goodtime Girls 3 (Wednesday)

We walked back to the Red Onion Saloon and up the back stairs. The back room where Sandra is standing in front of the piano (with the champagne they gave us) was built recently, but the rest of the building is the original that was built several blocks over and moved to its current site much later when it was bought and used as a railway station. When they put it into its current location, they accidentally put the front at the back of the lot. So they cut off the front and back and switched them. We could see the seam in the floor where they did this.

One of the stories Ophelia told us was about a woman working at the bordello whose admirer said he would pay her $100 dollars to watch her bathe in a tub of champagne. Since the women got a cut of any drinks they enticed men to buy for them from the bar, she agreed thinking of all the money she would get from a bathtub full of champagne. But when the tub of champagne was poured, she said she was too shy to bathe in front of him, so he would have to go back downstairs and imagine her up here bathing in the champagne. He did as he was told, and she had her bath alone. When she was done, she bottled the champagne back up and sold it to the bar as white wine.
